I think movies are a really great way to visualise complex data like this. The other day I was talking to a guy who is trying to map the network of shareholdings between Japanese firms over the past century. I thought a movie showing how the network changes over time would be pretty cool. Even cooler might be a display that you can manipulate dynamically yourself, rather than a pre-set movie. But I guess that’s more of a technological challenge, in terms of the data and processing that would be required. Maybe one day.
