The Mankiw effect
Greg Mankiw mentioned my econ blog ranking on his blog the other day and here’s what happened to my blog visitor stats immediately after:

Thanks Greg! Normally I get (ahem) about 100 visits per day. Greg gets about 20,000. Does that make me 1/200th as good an economist as Greg? Actually, that doesn’t sound too bad, even allowing for the fact that he’s a macroeconomist …

Instead of worrying about a terrible economist like Greg Mankiw, here are two good books to help fix your warped sense of reality and Milton Friedman worship:
Harvey, David. 2005. A Brief History of Neoliberalism. Oxford UP
Klein, Naomi. 2007. The Shock Doctrine. Metropolitan Books
Happy reading buddy.
Tom: I think Mankiw is a good economist, but that doesn’t mean I agree with everything he says. And when did I say that I worship Milton Friedman? I’m not even a macroeconomist.
