Well I knew that New Zealanders love to send text messages by mobile phone, but this article about Prime Minister Helen Clark’s use of texting made me smile:

She has three mobile phone devices and has described herself as the “mistress of text” because of her frequent use of the medium to contact, cajole, corral or commend her ministers.

Corrections Minister Damien O’Connor recognised her acceptance of the medium by offering via text message to resign after his ill-judgment over the parliamentary rugby team.

I’ve been a bit busy and have a backlog of new economics blogs to add to my directory. I hope to add them tomorrow. In the meantime, here’s some new economics blogs which will not be in the directory because they’re not currently indexed by Technorati. If the respective blog owners could fix that, I’d be happy to include them.

Several times recently I’ve had an email arrive in my inbox with an old timestamp. Since gmail shows emails in date order, I have to scroll through dozens of screens of emails to find the ‘new’ one and clear it. There is no obvious way to filter only unread emails.

After some searching, I found that you can do it by searching in gmail for: label:unread in:inbox

This works fine, but it’d be kind of nice if they just provided a button, though.
